There is a blatant government sanctioned suppression of 1st amendment rights of vocal  citizens who choose to speak out against illegal immigrants going on in Tucson, AZ.   Local activists are being systematically targeted by law enforcement and local politicians for speaking out at rallies and at city council meetings.  Pro-illegal alien supporters are using special use permits for their rallies that are being used to eliminate any counter-protesters from gathering within a specific distance.  However, these illegal alien supporters are also using their political clout to shut down any legal rally or protest put on by anti-illegal alien protesters.

The local government is controlling the police who are in turn, restricting local citizens from voicing their opinions in public.  This is a sad epidemic that is becoming more prevalent as the numbers of illegal aliens increases.  There is a long video (approximately 9 minutes) that documents what happened to one vocal demonstrator on May 1st, 2007.
